Clinical foundation.
Advanced AI.
Data no one else captures.

SCANETO is built on three interconnected layers: a clinical knowledge foundation, an AI engine translating research into real-time analysis, and data depth making each evaluation personal and precise. The technology is developed by SCANETO, and we run it on enterprise infrastructure through a close strategic partnership with IBM.

Layer 1

The clinical foundation

Everything SCANETO evaluates rests on established clinical knowledge.

Our models are trained and quality-assured against the latest research and a corpus of millions of scientific and evidence-based documents. This means the system's evaluations are not statistical guesses — they reflect what research and clinical practice actually say about good and poor movement.

We have developed a clinical ingestion process that acts as a bridge between the clinician's domain knowledge and the AI: expert knowledge is translated into structured, machine-readable movement standards, ensuring the system evaluates on the same basis a specialist would.

Layer 2

The AI engine

Computer vision inferring body position and movement — without specialized hardware.

SCANETO is not a single program, but an interplay between multiple complex software systems and sophisticated motion capture technology that we developed in-house. We use advanced computer vision to derive body position and movement from the camera in the patient's own phone — down to individual joints and movement patterns — translating raw video into precise movement data without suits, sensors, or specialized hardware.

Processing is efficient and privacy-friendly: movement data — not raw video — is analyzed and processed through the system. This makes the solution fast, scalable, and easy to integrate into environments with strict data security requirements.

Why not ChatGPT or Claude? General language models are built for breadth, not clinical precision. They hallucinate, their output is non-reproducible, and their training data is neither curated nor traceable to clinical evidence. That is unacceptable in a medical instrument. SCANETO therefore operates in a controlled, closed AI environment on IBM watsonx — featuring curated clinical datasets, deterministic output, and full traceability.

Strategic partnership

SCANETO owns and develops the technology. IBM is our strategic partner, providing the enterprise-ready AI infrastructure (IBM watsonx) on which the engine operates. This partnership provides the traceability, governance, and scalability needed to run clinical movement analysis at scale — with the data security the healthcare industry demands.

Layer 3

Data depth and profile

This is where SCANETO stands out most sharply. The analysis incorporates the individual patient's profile.

Most systems measure movement against a single generic model. SCANETO integrates each individual's profile into the analysis — age, diagnosis, injury history, functional level, and goals — evaluating movement within that specific context.

At the same time, we capture details and data points that no other player in the market detects: subtle asymmetries, compensation patterns, timing, and movement quality that are often invisible to the naked eye. It is this depth that makes SCANETO a clinical instrument rather than a fitness app.

Validation

Measured against
the gold standard.

We validate SCANETO's camera-based analysis against optical movement analysis, which is considered the gold standard in research. This gives us an objective, scientific foundation to document that smartphone-based movement analysis can deliver clinically trustworthy precision.
